Application Process

Fellows in Hand Surgery may apply for the position while completing their formal post-graduate orthopaedic/plastic or hand surgery training.

There are three paid positions available at any particular, commencing in February and August for either six or twelve month terms. Enquiries regarding remuneration may be directed to the department (NSLHD-Handsurgery@health.nsw.gov.au). Unpaid positions with identical clinical responsibilities are available.  

 Applicants should be aware that preference will be given to those who are applying to come at the completion of their higher surgical training or during the last year of this. Applicants should have completed a training course in microsurgery and preferably an AO fragment fixation course.

Positions have been filled until the end of Term 1 2027 (August) and at this current time we are not accepting further applications. Please check our website in the near future for any updates.

Please note that the Medical Board of Australia requires all international medical graduates to provide proof of English language proficiency before registration. International applicants from countries in which English is the second language must provide results of English language test with a minimum band of 7 in each component of the test. A successful result needs to be forwarded prior to the interview.
